Running with Mickey Mouse
Great weekend in Orlando that left me completely wiped out. I guess my feet don’t take kindly anymore to running a half-marathon and spending two days hitting the parks in OrlandoMixed feelings about the race to begin with; I would have expected more from a Disney organized event (that costs as much as this one does), but at the same time, running through Magic Kingdom and Epcot is a pretty neat experience that one has to try at least once
As far as the actual race, I ran fairly even which is what I wanted to do but I’d hoped for a faster 2nd half. I seemed to get locked into a pace and was tough to add some speed at the end. Still, I managed to shave about 5sec per mile in the back stretch, as well as a very strong last mile. All and all, I’m happy with my time for now (1hr54min), although it is still a far cry from my PR…
Also, had a very interesting discussion over dinner about whether I should do the Goofy Challenge next year. I’d be running the Half-Marathon on Saturday and then the full Marathon on Sunday. Total of 39.3miles in two days. How does that sound?
And here are the pics, small selection of hopefully not-s0-cliched images from the races, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. All taken with the Leica M9 + Leitz Summicron 35mm f/2 (now my favorite lens of all time). Enjoy:
